The
entryway of our home serves many purposes. It's a place to drop our
shoes and coats, the kids backpacks and whatever else.
Here are some organization ideas to help your entry look
less cluttered.
Coats, Hats, Gloves/Mittens
Coat racks that set in the corner or hang on the wall are an
excellant way to get these items off the floor. For the smaller
children, hanging hooks or a wall coat rack at their level is ideal.
This is a habit that will carry on a lifetime. Store any out of
season coats and hats in their bedrooms in a cedar chest. Hang
clothespins by a ribbon attachec to the coat rack for their gloves
and mittens. They are easy to open and the knitted mittens won't get
caught like they can on a hook.

Keys and Miscellaneous Small Items
Place an entryway table with a decorative bowl or a drawer in it
to catch all the small items that you absolutely need when you walk
out the door.

Shoes & Boots
Give each member of the family a small basket to keep their shoes
in. Line it with some waterproof kitchen cabinet liner tacked to
some cardboard to fit and you will not have to clean up the mud
puddles on your floor everytime someone walks in the door. Keep only
the everyday shoes at the door and leave the Sunday School shoes in
their bedroom.
